Retail Pharmacy Features
Below is a list of some of the solutions, we offer, that will provide the efficiency
and cost savings you are looking for.
Pharmacy Management
Our pharmacy software offers a robust solution for scanning, storing, and retrieving various documents, including prescriptions, Certificates of Medical Necessity (CMN), insurance cards, physician documentation, workers’ compensation forms, emails, faxes, and more. The seamless importation of additional files and documents enhances process efficiency and minimizes clutter.
When a prescription, insurance card, driver’s license, or signature is scanned, it is automatically linked to the patient’s record. Accessing patient information will display these images, verifying the patient’s prescription and helping to prevent dispensing errors. This feature can significantly reduce the time and cost associated with audits.
Adopting a paperless system can streamline your workflow, reducing the time and expenses related to manual filing. It also ensures that patient records are accurate and up-to-date.
Our pharmacy software features tools that automatically transmit Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) data, enhancing patient care and mitigating the abuse and diversion of controlled prescription drugs. The software meticulously tracks controlled prescriptions and fulfills all state reporting requirements.
The program gathers data on all Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substances dispensed, with the capability to report beyond the residing state. Each time a controlled substance is dispensed, it is reported to the PDMP using a format approved by the Department of Health (DOH). Reporting is straightforward and automatic, with frequencies ranging from minutes to days after dispensing, depending on local requirements.
Our Pharmacy Software system includes the Abacus PDMP extract, providing your business with a streamlined solution to meet reporting obligations efficiently regardless of the State it was dispensed in or shipped to.
The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) enacted by Congress on November 27, 2013, outlines steps to build an electronic, interoperable system to identify and trace certain prescription drugs as they are distributed in the United States. The system will enhance FDA’s ability to help protect consumers from exposure to drugs that may be counterfeit, stolen, contaminated, or otherwise harmful and will also improve detection and removal of potentially dangerous drugs from the drug supply chain to protect U.S. consumers.
We provide, in conjunction with facilitators, a cloud-based, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), used to determine the current and past locations of pharmaceutical drug products purchased and/or sold through US pharmaceutical drug supply chain stakeholders, Manufacturers, Suppliers/Wholesalers, and Dispensers.
You have workflow support in accordance with DSCSA for the following items:
- Authorized Trading Partner Verification.
- Suspect and/or Illegitimate Product Identification & Reporting.

Abacus Pharmacy software enhances inventory management efficiency by automatically handling inventory details such as container, expiration date, and lot numbers. This capability can boost cash flow and profitability by reducing the inventory levels required in your pharmacy. The software’s password-protected features and comprehensive reporting capabilities help minimize shrinkage and ensure accurate inventory counts. Additionally, Abacus interfaces with major wholesalers to provide cost comparisons, supporting multiple inventory types including retail, 340B, PAP, and own use.
The inventory control feature allows for the setup of automatic reorder stocking levels, the generation of purchase orders, and electronic submission to wholesalers. Upon processing incoming orders, the system updates quantity-on-hand and actual acquisition costs. Consequently, your financial reports will accurately reflect true costs, visible on each prescription as it is filled.
A Barcode Scanner (1D or 2D) significantly enhances accuracy and efficiency by enabling users to scan medications being dispensed or reviewed. It facilitates prescription verification by scanning the NDC number barcode on the patient label or receipt and matching it to the GTIN or NDC number barcode on the stock drug container. This handheld, portable unit can scan the GTIN or NDC of prescriptions being dispensed, picked up, or received into inventory, ensuring traceability.
Its portability allows the scanner to be used at any location during the prescription filling and verification process, further streamlining operations and reducing errors.

See How it Works
Improve patient safety and pharmacy resource utilization. Eliminate dispensing errors by verifying prescriptions during the filling process to assure that the drug product identified on the label is the drug product that is being dispensed. The dispensing process includes order entry, pharmacist verification, labeling/ packaging, quality assurance with NDC bar code verification and drug images, and delivery with bar code tote checking. Orders that require additional attention can be pushed to the error resolution queue to avoid delay.
Queue Features
The Refill Queue manages refill requests, prior authorizations as well as displaying the status. Requests can be received automatically through an interactive voice response system (IVR), reducing time spent on the telephone or via the Internet.
For prescriptions that have expired or have no refills remaining, an electronic request can be sent automatically to physicians requesting a new prescription or additional refills.
From their workstations, each tech or pharmacist can view the list of prescriptions in the queue by different criteria, such as those waiting to be delivered, mailed, picked up at certain times, and those waiting for refill authorization, etc.
For each Rx entered into the Queue, there is a note field that can be used to record special services or requests by the patient, such as requests for delivery of OTC items or physician interface reminders or reminders for the tech to call the patient when an order has been filled.
Bin management and Quality Control
A quality control feature can be enabled after each prescription is filled, that will require to scan the stock bottle NDC and the prescription label barcode, you can verify that the prescription has been filled with the correct drug. You can also perform a complete DUR for the patient and review any potential drug interactions or drug allergies in the same screen.
During quality assurance (if configured) pill imaging feature will display a color picture of the tablet or capsule with its imprints so you can verify that the correct drug was dispensed before a prescription is scanned out and given to the patient.
Reports can be generated to identify prescriptions still remaining in the Will-Call bin so you can call your patients or reverse the prescriptions and return the drugs to stock.
Our pharmacy software features advanced Workflow technology that maintains multiple Workflow Queues, enabling easy assignment of responsibilities and customization to fit your unique work environment. This includes Queue management for:
- New Rx orders
- Holds
- Physician actions
- DUR (Drug Utilization Review)

The Refill Queue efficiently manages refill requests and prior authorizations, displaying their status. Requests can be automatically received through an interactive voice response system (IVR), reducing time spent on the phone or online. For prescriptions that have expired or lack refills, an electronic request can be automatically sent to physicians for a new prescription or additional refills.
From their workstations, technicians and pharmacists can view the list of prescriptions in the queue by various criteria, such as those waiting to be delivered, mailed, picked up at specific times, or awaiting refill authorization. Each Rx in the Queue includes a note field for recording special services or patient requests, such as delivery of OTC items or reminders to call the patient when an order is filled.
Additionally, the queue lists electronic prescriptions and faxes as they are received or sent out, eliminating the need for manual filing and simplifying patient record management.
Many patients face challenges in adhering to their prescribed medication regimens, particularly with timely refills. Delays in refilling medications can lead to missed doses, compromising treatment effectiveness and negatively impacting patient health.
The Abacus system offers a solution to enhance patient adherence and health outcomes. By utilizing the Integrated Automatic Refill feature, you can ensure that patients’ maintenance medications are refilled on a regular schedule, preventing them from running out of essential medications. Additionally, the patient notifications feature allows you to remind patients when it is time to refill their prescriptions. Combining automatic refills with patient notifications can significantly improve adherence and overall health.
A customer arrives at your counter with her sick child and a prescription but without an insurance card. Using the information in her family’s file, you attempt to submit her claim, but it is unsuccessful. She recalls that her husband’s company recently switched insurance plans, and the new provider’s cards have not yet arrived.
This situation is easily managed with our system, which can search for commercial or Medicare eligibility and quickly retrieve all available coverage information, recording it in the patient’s profile.
By entering basic information such as the patient’s name, date of birth, zip code, and the last four digits of their SSN, you can access comprehensive coverage details (Plan, Group number, Card number, person code, and relationship for Medicare Part D or Commercial Insurance) from all active coverage sources.
Determining eligibility and coverage for:
- Patients with no insurance or prescription benefit card
- Patients who have changed plans or who present the wrong information or card
- E-Prescriptions that arrive for patients with no benefit information on file
Enhancing staff efficiency and improving the overall customer experience is achievable by quickly determining eligibility in such situations. The ultimate goal is met when the customer leaves with their filled prescription.
You will have access to eligibility information for over 220 million individuals enrolled in commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare Pharmacy Benefit Plans.

Prescription processing is highly centralized, primarily revolving around the prescription fill screen. Tasks such as filling prescriptions, adding patients and doctors, transmitting online claims, performing proactive DUR analysis, maintaining SIGs, and printing patient education leaflets can all be completed while filling a prescription. This centralized design significantly enhances productivity by providing direct access to most tasks associated with prescription processing from a single interface. Additional tasks such as database maintenance, billing, system administration, reports, accounts receivable, and nursing home support are all organized within the system. Abacus Pharmacy Software is compatible with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing.
The system is customizable to meet various operational environment needs, with screens that expand to offer additional options for high-volume operations. Whether your pharmacy fills 50 prescriptions a day or 15,000, the software manages it effortlessly. It is compatible with MS SQL™ and other database systems.
The system restricts unauthorized users from accessing any screen or function and can log unauthorized attempts, providing alerts for such activities.
Abacus pharmacy software is designed to enhance patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs by identifying and intervening with at-risk patients. The software’s Patient Risk Score feature allows pharmacists to assess the likelihood of individual patients being hospitalized within the next 30 days or 12 months based on their medications and adherence.

Boost your CMS rating with our program, features, and interfaces.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) aims to provide better care, healthier people and communities, and lower-cost care. To align with this goal, CMS developed a one to five-star rating system to evaluate the performance of Medicare Advantage plans. A plan’s star rating is significant as it directly impacts their compensation and marketing advantages.
Medicare Advantage plans are rated on several performance areas, including outcome measures (improvement in health), intermediate outcome measures, patient experience, access measures (barriers to care), and process measures (how care is provided).
Part D plans are evaluated based on performance measures across four domains: Drug Plan Customer Service, Member Complaints and Problems Getting Services, Member Experience with Drug Plan, and Drug Pricing and Patient Safety. The Drug Pricing and Patient Safety domain includes Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA)-supported medication adherence measures.
CMS also employs Display Measures to further evaluate Part D plans. Although these measures are not included in the plans’ star ratings, they are reported to CMS and displayed on the “Patient Safety” website. PQA-supported measures of medication safety, such as drug-drug interactions, excessive doses of oral diabetes medications, and the completion rate of Comprehensive Medication Reviews, are measured and reported.
Abacus provides monitoring and reporting to assist you in maintaining the highest rating level with the CMS Five-Star.
Data is collected to evaluate pharmacies’ performance in areas such as vaccinations, health coaching, medication therapy management, health promotion, care coordination, and adherence counseling. Medicare Advantage plans particularly emphasize medication adherence for Part D patients receiving maintenance medications for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
Pharmacies’ performance evaluations can influence whether a Medicare Advantage plan includes them in a preferred network. Plans may seek pharmacies that align with their goals and are committed to improving performance metrics, especially those related to medication adherence.
For pharmacies, this presents a prime opportunity to collaborate with Medicare Advantage plans to enhance star ratings and ensure patients receive appropriate care. As the healthcare landscape evolves, pharmacies will increasingly play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive healthcare to their patients.
PSE Monitor provides pharmacies and law enforcement with a tool to track the sale of products containing pseudoephedrine (PSE) so that state and federal restrictions can be effectively enforced.
Our integrated POS system enables pharmacists to monitor the daily and monthly sales of OTC medications containing pseudoephedrine, recording both the product and purchaser’s information. The system compares the purchaser’s consumption record against the legal limit standards of your State. If the sale complies with these limits, the transaction can be finalized with the consumer’s electronic signature.
Multi-dose adherence packaging is essential for reducing healthcare costs and improving patient outcomes. Patients with chronic conditions that require complex and strict medication regimens are more likely to adhere to their prescribed treatments when using adherence packaging. Simplifying medication compliance for these patients leads to fewer hospitalizations. Patients will appreciate the ease of staying on track with their regimens, while payers will benefit from the cost savings associated with avoiding unnecessary hospital visits.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a U.S. healthcare law that sets forth requirements for the use, disclosure, and protection of individually identifiable health information. It applies to covered entities, including pharmacies, doctors’ offices, hospitals, health insurers, and other healthcare organizations with access to patients’ protected health information (PHI). Additionally, it extends to business associates, such as software service and IT providers, that may access PHI on behalf of these entities.
1. Privacy, which covers patient confidentiality.
2. Security, which deals with the protection of information, including physical, technological, and administrative safeguards.
3. Identifiers, which are the types of information that cannot be released if collected for research purposes.
4. Codes for electronic transmission of data in healthcare-related transactions, including eligibility and insurance claims and payments.
The scope of HIPAA was expanded with the enactment of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. Together, HIPAA and HITECH Act rules encompass:
- The HIPAA Privacy Rule, which emphasizes individuals’ rights to control the use of their personal information, ensuring the confidentiality of PHI and limiting its use and disclosure.
- The HIPAA Security Rule, which establishes standards for administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect electronic PHI from unauthorized access, use, and disclosure. It also includes organizational requirements such as Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
- The HITECH Breach Notification Final Rule, which mandates notifying individuals and the government when a breach of unsecured PHI occurs.
HIPAA regulations require covered entities and their business associates—such as Abacus when providing services to covered entities—to enter into contracts to ensure adequate protection of PHI. These contracts, or BAAs, clarify and limit how the business associate can handle PHI and outline each party’s adherence to the security and privacy provisions of HIPAA and the HITECH Act. Once a BAA is in place, Abacus customers—covered entities—can utilize its services. Currently, there is no official certification for HIPAA or HITECH Act compliance. However, Abacus services covered under the BAA are undergoing audits conducted by accredited independent auditors.
HIPAA history
The Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information (“Privacy Rule”) establishes, for the first time, a set of national standards for the protection of certain health information. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued the Privacy Rule to implement the requirement of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The Privacy Rule standards address the use and disclosure of individuals’ health information—called “protected health information” by organizations subject to the Privacy Rule — called “covered entities,” as well as standards for individuals’ privacy rights to understand and control how their health information is used. Within HHS, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has responsibility for implementing and enforcing the Privacy Rule with respect to voluntary compliance activities and civil money penalties.
Privacy and Security
Abacus is firmly committed to providing the best products and services available, while protecting the privacy and security of our customer’s information. We realize the confidentiality within the services that we provides and Abacus has established an information security policy in an effort to protect the security, confidentiality, integrity, and availability personally identifiable information, corporate trade secrets, intellectual property, and takes all reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the security of this information. Our corporate values revolve around the commitment to service, excellence, integrity, privacy and security. We work closely with each of our customers to address individual needs and concerns and deliver a solution that meets their specific business requirements.
Abacus has received full accredited from EHNAC, see https://www.ehnac.org/accredited-organizations/, and has completed the HIPAA EPCS certification and has been approved for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) via our pharmacy software applications. To earn certification, the company’s software application for EPCS functionality was audited as well as our process, facility, staff, procedures and operation to ensure that it complied with the requirements delineated in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) EPCS Final Rule, 21 CFR Part 1300, 1304, 1306, and 1311. The certification audit is a requirement before prescribers or pharmacies can begin to exchange e-prescriptions with controlled substances and to be activated by SureScripts to send or receive EPCS through its prescription exchange network. Furthermore, it will allow Abacus to provide pharmacies’ solutions that will meet mandate for paperless EPCS e-prescriptions as required in some States.
The software is also certified or meets regulatory standards set by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), United States Pharmacopeia (USP), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), HITECH’s Meaningful Use (MU) specifications, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), American Society for Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP) and the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Title 21 CFR Part 11 rules.
With thousands of drugs in various shapes, sizes, and colors available in a pharmacy, the pill database is invaluable. It retrieves an image of the prescribed medication alongside the prescription image, providing an additional layer of verification to ensure the patient receives the correct medication. This is yet another way Abacus Pharmacy Software enhances accuracy and patient safety.
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) feature is equipped with tools to eliminate duplicate entries, automatically update accounts aging and purchasing entries, and track both costs and history. The system ensures accurate costing automation, reliable inventory counts, and comprehensive profit calculations based on real-time inventory tracking.
Our pharmacy software offers a comprehensive feature that enables healthcare professionals to record and track patient lab values and vaccines. This feature integrates lab value and vaccine documentation, such as weight, blood work, and hormone panels, directly into the patient profile, simplifying the management of crucial health information.
This centralized record of essential lab data enhances patient management and care coordination. It ensures that healthcare professionals can swiftly identify critical lab values and take appropriate actions to address any abnormalities.
Never miss a task again!
Abacus Pharmacy software’s To-Do List feature functions as a personal assistant, helping you stay organized and on top of your responsibilities. You can assign reminders when filling prescriptions for a specific patient or to other team members, ensuring that all tasks are tracked and completed efficiently. This eliminates the need for sticky notes or written reminders that can easily be misplaced.
We support all the major ASAP conventions for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to communicate with Processors, wholesalers and others, including:
- 832 – Price/Cost used to convey price changes from the wholesaler to the pharmacy.
- 835 – Processor Electronic Payment EOB remittance posting.
- 837 – Electronic Professional Claim data interface (DME, HCFA 1500).
- 850/855 – Electronic Purchase Order to wholesalers.
Plug-In Tools
The DeliveryRx™ system is an ideal solution for pharmacies that collect signatures at drive-thru windows, deliver medications to patients, or service nursing facilities. It is compatible with iPhone and iPad devices.
The system is designed to track prescription deliveries, including alternate addresses for patients who prefer their prescriptions delivered to different locations. It verifies the prescription being delivered and the recipient, tracks the driver, and records delivery with Proof-of-Delivery (POD) signatures or delivery notes. Additionally, it assists with payment collection, ensuring complete delivery and payment accuracy. The mobile device can instantly update all pharmacy data (patient signatures, POD, payment amounts, debit charges, notes, and delivery status) via the internet, or the data can be uploaded to the pharmacy software when the driver returns.
You can track every prescription that leaves your pharmacy, including:
- Prescription Delivery Tracking
- Driver Tracking
- Delivery Tote Verification
- Delivery Route Management
- Direction Mapping
- Payment Collection
- Proof-of-Delivery Signatures
The DeliveryRx™ system offers two methods for tracking deliveries:
- Manual Mode: Delivery tickets containing patient information, address, and prescription details are scanned and assigned to a delivery person, indicating the prescriptions are en route. Upon the driver’s return, the delivery ticket is scanned again to update the status as received, refused, or other. The system can also generate a delivery list with directions, and the delivery ticket can be scanned to electronically capture the patient’s signature.
- Computerized Mode: The DeliveryRx™ Computerized Delivery Tracking Module is ideal for pharmacies that collect signatures at drive-thru windows, deliver medications to patients, provide outpatient services, or offer Rx delivery to nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and other institutions. In today’s competitive environment, a computerized delivery tracking system gives independent pharmacies an edge over corporate chains by offering personalized service while maintaining control and integrity of Rx deliveries.
The DeliveryRx™ system is designed to track prescription deliveries to specific or multiple alternate addresses and locations. It verifies the prescription being delivered, including patient verification, driver assignment, amounts due at delivery, and proof-of-delivery signatures. The system accommodates physician or pharmacist notes upon delivery and provides electronic confirmation back to the pharmacy’s central system.
Using an iPhone or iPad:
The manifest is downloaded onto the device, which the driver uses to “check off” each item upon delivery to the nursing home or patient. The device also allows for checking off delivered items and logging an electronic signature from the receiving personnel.
How It Works
Deliveries are digitally tracked using an iPhone or iPad (Mobile Device). The tracking process begins when the pharmacy system uploads the delivery data onto the Mobile Device, creating a digital manifest (packing list). Each list is linked to a destination ID representing a wing/section of a nursing home or a home address. One Mobile Device can contain lists for all destinations on a delivery route (and can handle multiple routes) and will accompany the product upon delivery.
Upon arrival at the destination, the delivery person scans a unique barcode posted at the location, logging the device at the destination and identifying the driver handling the delivery. The next step is to scan all unique Rx barcodes on the prescription labels. The Rx number and refill number act as unique tracking identifiers for the items being delivered (similar to a UPS tracking number). As each Rx label is scanned, it is checked off the list of prescriptions for that destination, creating a date/time-stamped record for each prescription.
When all prescriptions are scanned, the program proceeds to the next stage: collecting the amount owed (cash, check, or credit card) and capturing the recipient’s signature (Proof of Delivery). The nurse or recipient first provides their printed name, ensuring that even if they sign an “X” on the Mobile Device, the records will still show the first and last name of the person accepting the delivery. The recipient then signs on a digital signature pad similar to a credit card touchpad. If an amount is due, it will be displayed for collection.
The system now creates digital records of all critical elements of the delivery process. The delivery information can be sent instantly to the pharmacy via the internet, or the record can remain on the Mobile Device until it returns to the pharmacy and synchronizes with the computer system.
Following are a few of the main features:
- R Streamlined tracking and delivery system.
- R Integration of scanners and credit card processing.
- R Ability to print manifests.
- R Numerous “check stations” offer redundancy style tracking, thus greatly reducing the possibility of lost or mis-delivered scripts.
- R Exception report offers at-a-glance view of discrepancies in the tracking process.
- R Ability to obtain and download electronic signatures.
- Can easily add additional delivery drivers into the system.
Do you find that juggling the administrative requirements needed to capture, store and retrieve patients’ signatures, combined with keeping up with your daily responsibilities, leaves you less time for your patients?
Our electronic signature capture solution helps you capture, store and retrieve patients’ signatures on a signature pad when dispensing, integrates with the Abacus pharmacy management system and supports PHI acknowledgement and patient pickup, including cash and third-party, offer to counsel, and safety cap information.
The Electronic Signature pad is a paperless system that electronically captures, stores, and retrieves signatures on demand, document pick-up logs, HIPAA privacy acknowledgements and Safety cap waiver virtually eliminating the need to store and manually retrieve thousands of signature logs, other paper documents and. provides signature information instantly for audits or inspections.

Offer to Counsel.
Safety Cap Waiver.
Other Benefits:
Eliminates excessive paper documents and storage
Provides greater confidentiality at the out-window
Streamlines prescription audits
Due to the discounted cost of 340B drugs purchased through a managed program, separate inventory and accounting must be maintained. By designating separate inventory locations, prescriptions can be grouped accordingly to generate accountability reports and automatically transmitted with the required parameters. Our Pharmacy Software efficiently manages multiple inventories, screens drugs, prescribers, patients, and users automatically.
Automatic Prescription Refill
Do you need to automatically refill, transmit, and print all prescriptions due for refill?
The “Cycle Fill” system enables you to automatically refill a group of patients’ prescriptions when they become due. You can control which patients, prescriptions, or drugs are automatically refilled. This tool is an enhancement to our Auto Refill system, providing high-volume, mail order, and institutional pharmacies with a more robust professional solution. It allows you to send multiple claims for multiple patients to multiple carriers for routine medications. These functions save you time and money by enabling batch or facility-based refills.
You have the flexibility to refill routine medications, select non-routine medications, discontinue medications, request refills automatically, or fill new medications from the MAR Sheet. Once you are satisfied with all the changes, the system will automatically refill, transmit, and print the prescriptions, MAR Sheet, and Delivery Sheet for all selected medications.
The Nursing Home Consulting System is designed to enable consultant pharmacists to perform onsite patient drug regimen reviews and facility inspections of nursing homes periodically using a laptop or portable computer system.
Patient information and medication/treatment orders from nursing homes are extracted from the standard Abacus Pharmacy System and loaded into a laptop or portable computer system. This ensures that the consultant pharmacist has complete and up-to-date information while conducting onsite reviews.

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology improves efficiency by reducing the amount of time spent on the phone.
IVR is an interactive voice response solution that integrates with the Abacus Pharmacy Management system and automates telephone call handling by routing refills into your pharmacy software. It provides customers and physicians with 24-hour access to pharmacy services. IVR manages the pharmacy’s incoming calls, enhancing the pharmacy workflow and enabling pharmacists and staff to spend more time serving their patients. By reducing interruptions, IVR allows pharmacy staff to increase the level of service they provide their patients while also being more productive. Everyone who comes into contact with your pharmacy benefits from IVR. Using IVR, patients can order prescription refills, get basic pharmacy information or speak to the pharmacy staff for personal assistance. Physicians can order prescriptions, authorize refills or speak directly with the pharmacists. IVR even recognizes your regular and holiday hours so patients aren’t trying to come in for their prescriptions when you aren’t there.
The use of IVR services is quite prevalent in the healthcare industry. Because of the urgency of many situations that arise in this industry, it is necessary to facilitate response both quickly and efficiently allowing patients to refill their prescriptions 24/7 over the phone or on the internet. Save time and increase efficiency with an IVR solution. IVR increases pharmacy workflow and productivity by helping you manage phoned-in refills, simplifying time-consuming physician communications and providing your pharmacy patients with 24/7 access. Routes prescription refill requests to the pharmacy software queue for processing and reduces the number of phone interruptions.
IVR is a refill solution that manages your pharmacy’s incoming phone calls. The IVR is designed to meet individual pharmacy needs based upon the features desired and your existing telephone equipment.

Reconcile third-party payments quickly, either electronically or manually. Claims reconciliation allows you to effortlessly post claims processor remittance data to the system. Both online and offline billed claims are posted to the tracking system, which offers a highly functional maintenance interface. This interface enables you to filter billed claims by specific date ranges for individual plans or all plans, sort claims by billed or fill date, and search for individual records by prescription number. Additionally, the tracking system interface provides on-screen editing of claim entries, reporting, and reject re-billing.
Pharmacists often assume that when a third-party company electronically accepts a prescription for reimbursement at a specific dollar amount, they will receive a check for that same amount. While this seems reasonable, is it always the case?
Studies have concluded that approximately 1% to 5% (depending on the PBM) of the claims are paid a different amount than billed.
In addition, consider how much time your staff spends on manually tracking prescription payments from third parties. We can electronically reconcile 835 remittances and we have formed relationships with partner companies to help your staff spend more time working with patients, not paper remittances.
The Reconciliation module offers independent pharmacy “transaction level” reconciliation and provides reimbursement audits similar to those the chain pharmacies have employed since 1996. It compares data received from the pharmacy’s switched data (paid claims response) to electronic remittance advice submitted by third-party payers. We support reconciliation with all third-party payers that offer electronic claims remittance.
